If you need to complete community service hours that are court ordered or lawyer recommended for a non-violent offence, you may complete these hours in the overnight shelter at Samaritan Ministries. The minimum age to volunteer in the shelter 18 years old. Volunteers aged 17 years old may serve with an accompanying adult for the duration of the shift.
Prior to scheduling your first shift, your lawyer or the court system must provide the following information typed on official letterhead:
* Your full name
* Your date of birth
* Total number of hours required
* Due date
* Your phone number
* Your email address
Please have your lawyer or the court system email the required documentation typed on a single page to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax it to 336-748-8207.
Once this documentation has been provided, you may call between the hours of 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, to schedule your first shift. Please call 336-748-1962.
Court-ordered or lawyer recommended hours must be scheduled through this process. If you do not follow the procedures and provide the required documentation in advance, you will not receive credit for your hours. After completion of hours, we will return official paperwork to the court office or your attorney.
